CFP: Trent Philosophy Society Student Symposium

Deadline approaches! 4pm on Friday, January 31st, 2014.

CALL FOR PAPERS:
Trent Philosophy Society Student Symposium

The Trent Philosophy Society is pleased to announce that the annual Student Symposium will be held on Saturday, March 1st, 2014.  The Symposium is a longstanding tradition of the Philosophy Department.  Its purpose is to support and encourage the intellectual contributions of philosophy students at Trent by showcasing students’ original work.

This is a call for papers to be considered for presentation at this year’s Symposium.  You are encouraged to submit a paper that you would like to present to an audience of your peers.  Typically, students participating in this event present versions of term papers or research projects.  However, submissions need not have been previously submitted for credit—works in progress will be considered too.

Please consider submitting any paper that you think is suitable for presentation—especially a paper that presents ideas you find interesting and is likely to promote discussion.  To allow time for discussion, each presentation will be limited to 20 minutes.  This means that papers submitted for consideration should contain no more than 2500 words.

Papers are to be submitted to Professor Michael Hickson (Lady Eaton College, N119).  This can be done by leaving your paper with Kathy Fife in the Department’s office (Lady Eaton College, S.118), or by emailing the paper directly to Professor Hickson (michaelhickson at trentu dot ca).

To be considered for presentation at this year’s Symposium, papers should be submitted on or before 4pm on Friday, January 31st, 2014.

Please include a separate title page with your paper.  The title page should make clear that the submission is to be considered for presentation at the Student Symposium.  The title page should also indicate the title of the paper, your name and your contact information (especially your email address).

Submissions will be reviewed by the Faculty of the Department of Philosophy.  Authors will be notified by email whether their papers have been accepted for presentation.

If you have any questions, please contact Professor Hickson (michaelhickson at trentu dot ca).

On behalf of the Trent Philosophy Society,

Regards,

Michael
